Obstacle, Pierre Huyghe, 2014

Concrete, bench and golf hole.
Collection of the artist. Installed on private land. Visible from a distance from a path along the river. La Bienne.
Pierre Huyghe's Obstacle is part of François Curlet's GOGOLF project. In a generous gesture, François Curlet invited friends and fellow artists to imagine a golf hole, with all the proposals making up a mini-golf course. First presented in the form of a series of drawings (Galerie Commune, Tourcoing 2008) and then in the form of models (La Chapelle du Genêteil, Château-Gontier), the project was finally brought to life on a real scale and made accessible to visitors during the "Playtime" exhibition at the Rennes Biennial of Contemporary Art. 20 holes of golf (from the simplest to the most absurd) were installed in the heart of the Ateliers de Rennes. Only Pierre Huyghe's hole, so simple that it could be likened to hole 1, was moved to Piacé, in the garden of F. Curlet, who has never left his coach's bench since.) Other spots should be installed in Piacé and neighbouring villages in the indeterminate future...
