Les Haies, Joël Auxenfans

Different species of shrubs and trees.
Often neglected or even uprooted, hedges have gradually disappeared from our landscapes. Yet they are essential to the balance of our environment. Since 2017, artist Joël Auxenfans has been restoring them to their former glory and giving them a new lease of life (both literally and figuratively) with his Les Haies project. His work, particularly in the form of participative workcamps, involves planting artistic hedges in various agricultural (organic farms) or cultural sites. The choice of specific species and the alternation of species in the composition of the hedges make them artefacts similar to paintings with visual effects that change over time...
The project for Piacé began in 2020 in collaboration with the apprentice training centre at La Geminière (Rouillon).
