Oblique House

Rem Koolhas, RampClaude Parent, 2014 Venice Biennale

Description
A small white house on the Piacé road is the setting for a full-scale reconstruction of part of architect Claude Parent's flat. The ramp presented here is a real-life example of the Oblique Function theory that Claude Parent developed with the town planner and philosopher Paul Virilio. This ramp was built by Rem Koolhas' agency OMA AMO for the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2014 as part of the Elements of architecture exhibition. It was then exhibited at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Le Mans as part of the exhibition ObliqueS (Curated by David Liaudet, 2016).
