Saint-Léger chapel

Saint-Léger Chapel. Carte blanche à Stéphane Vigny exhibition view, 2020

Description
Situated on the heights of Piacé, the chapel is on the site of Saint-Léger, a former priory belonging to Saint Vincent du Mans Abbey. It dates back to the 13th century, while the neighbouring dwelling dates back to the 15th and 16th centuries. Rectangular in shape (8 x 14 metres), its remarkable architecture features several stone arches inside the walls. Today, it hosts temporary exhibitions, film screenings and other events organised by the association. Two of the most famous sculptures on the route are located on the Saint-Léger site: Murderous by Nicolas Milhé and Big Stump by Stéphane Vigny. Big StumpThis rustic reproduction of an enormous sequoia stump regularly hosts concerts, performances and meetings on its ridge, which serves as a stage.
