Stéphane Vigny

Carte blanche to Stéphane Vigny. Saint-Léger Chapel

Capsule radieuse - Stéphane Vigny - Carte blanche
March to May 2020

Exhibition visible from outside La Chapelle Saint-Léger

As part of the Route d'or, a programme of exhibitions devised by Les Quinconces-L'espal and Piacé le radieux, Stéphane Vigny was given carte blanche. He invited Chloé Quenum to exhibit at L'Espal (13 March-12 June), an exhibition which was unfortunately cancelled due to the Covid-19 epidemic. Stéphane Vigny's exhibition at the Chapelle Saint-Léger remained open in May.

Stéphane Vigny invites us to discover his work in the Saint-Léger chapel, his home in the countryside, a place where he has already organised film screenings and a baroque music concert. Objects, most of them mass-produced, are modified and reinvented. By diverting them from their initial function through a game of oppositions (craft/industrial, kitsch/minimal, etc.), or by changing the scale and place of destination, the artist gives the objects a new status. Based on the principle of L'atelier Brancusi reconstituted at Place Georges-Pompidou, two openings provide a transparent view of the exhibition from outside the chapel.
