Gabriel Naïm Amor (Tucson, USA)
After more than a decade in the French underground - notably as guitarist with the cult band Witches Valley - Gabriel Naïm Amor left his native Paris in 1997 for the saguaro cactus landscapes of Arizona, in search of desert dust to infiltrate his cinematic avant-pop.
Shortly after moving to Tucson, he formed Amor Belhom Duo with drummer Thomas Belhom, a project that spawned two albums, a live album - with Valérie Leulliot (Autour de Lucie) - and 'Tête-à-Tête', a quartet with Joey Burns and John Convertino (Calexico). In 2004, on 'Mistake Love', his first solo album, Naïm enlisted the services of John Parish (PJ Harvey, Sparklehorse). Five more have been released since, including the most recent, 'Moments Before', produced by Jim Waters and recorded with John Convertino, Thøger Lund (Giant Sand) and Tommy Larkins (Jonathan Richman).
He also composes for film and television - including the multi-award-winning documentaries 'Precious Knowledge' (2011) and 'I Learn America' (2012) - and plays regularly with Howe Gelb and Jim Murple Memorial.
