Big huts - The village, Frédérique Petit, 2022

Deposit of the artist

At once modest and imposing, Frédérique Petit's huts, new additions to the exhibition, radiate a benevolent presence. These new creations mark a new stage in the artist's journey from the finest embroidery to the most monumental sculptures. Frédérique Petit's works, most of which focus on textiles, all have thread in common. Thread as weft or as line, as palette of colours or as architecture. From the extreme delicacy of her embroideries to the massive strength of her concrete-iron constructions, the visual artist Frédérique Petit navigates without taboos between multiple artistic practices.
