EDF plastic capsule, Jacques Carchon and Jean Fournier, 1984

*Private space Moulin de Blaireau. Visible only during temporary exhibitions, guided tours or by appointment.
"Here is proof that research into micro-housing continued into the 1980s. Jacques Carchon and Jean Fournier won a competition launched by E.D.F. in 1984 to find other popular solutions for leisure accommodation to replace the caravan or mobile home. The originality of the proposal lay in the combination of a solid sleeping area in a plastic capsule with a textile tent that could be set up as a canopy and was intended to be the outdoor living space. Once the season was over, the 19m2 tent could simply be stored in the plastic bubble. The hull offers two beds on a wooden base, wardrobes moulded into the interior with shelves, a window, a mirror and two superb Italian Guzzini wall lights that can direct the light as required. The one in Piacé now sits next to the six-shell Bubble, painted black. Unfortunately, we're missing the 'Penta', the textile part... So here's to you, ladies and gentlemen! If Mr Jacques Carchon and Mr Jean Fournier could tell us this story... You will find in the documentation section, a short article on the Bulle and its Penta published in CREE Interior Architecture".
